Credt Check - Credt Report - Credt Rating What is this?

Interesting terms check report rating but they are terms used by financial institutions to check the ability and the history of those making an application to borrow money from them.

In every country there is an organisation, a central agency, that hold records for those people who have either applied for or have held a loan.

The agencies will record information from the finance lender as to your suitability to make repayments, whether you satisfied the terms and conditions of a loan or if you defaulted, did not repay the loan.

Based upon your loan repayment behavour, you will receive a score. That is your credit score and forms part of your credit report.

If you have a poor credt score or rating then the lender after checking the credit report agency will make a decision on whether they will or will not lend you money.

In all countries you have access to your credit scrore or rating. You need to contact the organisation and ask them how you can get a copy of your rating held by that agency. The organisation will advise you as to the process of getting your copy and sometimes it is free but often you will be charged a small fee.

It is important for you to know what your credt rating is because if you have a low credt score then your chances of obtaining a loan will be greatly diminished. Once you know your credit score you can then put in place a plan to improve your rating.

Credit ratings and scores will determine firstly if the lender will approve your application for a credt loan and then also how much they will charge you interest on that loan. All lenders will perform a credt check on you without fail, especially if the amount of money applied for is substantial.

Poor credit histories mean higher interest rates so you want to make sure your scores and ratings are in good sound shape before you make any application for credit. Remember all lenders will go to their local credt report agency to find out what your credt rating is before making any decision.
